Purchasing & Tendering Policy
The Municipal Act, 2001, Section 270, as amended, requires that a municipality shall adopt and maintain policies with respect to the procurement of goods and services. The Corporation of the Town of Kapuskasing has developed the following purchasing policy principles for the municipality. The purpose of the policy is as follows:
- To ensure that all purchases provide the lowest costs consistent with the required quality and service
- To provide for an open and transparent process that is fair and impartial
- To provide for a process that is accountable and transparent to the public
- To promote and maintain the integrity of the purchasing process by providing clear directions and accountability
- To encourage the Kapuskasing economy by supporting local businesses and local manufacturing plant
