Snowplowing and Winter Maintenance

The Public Works Department carries a program of snow removal on town streets on a priority roadway basis.

Snow Removal, Plowing and Snow Dumps

Snow removal operations are carried out in both commercial and residential areas on a priority roadway basis. The municipality will not accept any responsibility for damage to any fences, hedges, or appurtenance that are located on the Town property and which may become damaged in the course of snow plowing or removal.

Street Snow Plowing

After a winter storm, roadways are plowed on a priority basis with major routes done first.

Street Winter Sanding

Winter sanding is provided on a daily basis, as well as on an emergency basis via the department on-call system. A daily sanding log is kept in the sanding unit, identifying road conditions, sectors and routes which have been sanded during a particular day.

Sidewalk Plowing, Sanding & Cleaning

In conjunction with roadway plowing and sanding, some sidewalks (mainly along major routes and school routes) are also plowed and sanded during the winter months by Public Works.

Did you know?
