Picnic Areas
"Going on a picnic, leaving right away
If it doesn't rain, we'll stay all day"
Kapuskasing has plenty of beautiful parks and green spaces to settle down for the perfect picnic with friends, family and loved-ones!
When the workday is done (or during your lunch break!), when the weekend has finally arrived or when the weather is ideal, make sure to visit the following locations to enjoy your picnic!
Riverside Park
Beautiful Riverside Park is the most popular spot to have a picnic!
Its vastness allows picnickers to set up anywhere they wish, whether it be up by the Water Park & playground, or in the shade near the tennis courts, or even down by the river on the iconic rocks in the bay.
Highway "Picnic Area"
Situated at the western entrance of Kapuskasing, conveniently located next to the Welcome Centre, the simply-named "Picnic Area" offers many tables and outdoor charcoal barbeques in a lush setting of green grass and shady trees.
Next to the picnic area is a safe, gated zone to watch the falls thunder down from the Mill dam site. Public washrooms are available at the Welcome Centre.
Welcome Centre
The Welcome Centre is a must-stop if you're just passing through and need a place to take a break and stretch your legs, enjoy your packed lunch and get some visitor information.
The Welcome Centre also houses the town's only museum and sculpture gallery. Make it a priority to take in the region's culture and history by checking out the museum, chatting it up with the friendly staff and Curator, or strolling down the mini outdoor interpretive trail.
No packed lunch? No problem!
The Welcome Centre is surrounded by many local restaurants and fast food joints.
Need your coffee fix?
Thankfully, there's a Tim Hortons situated directly across the street!
Photo ops: Take a picture in front of the giant statue, in the wooden locomotive or in front of the train and big red block museum letters!
