Trails

Designated a Healthy Community, the Town of Kapuskasing encourages you to add some kilometres to your life by exploring one or more of its identified routes and trails. Hint: the Brown route is The Loop!

The Loop

The most frequently used route for walking and running in Kapuskasing is The Loop; a 5 km circuit around town, passing the main streets of Riverside, Byng, Brunetville, Brunelle North and Government Road. Its safe and easy access and its wide sidewalks make it a favourite for:

  • walking
  • running groups
  • pushing strollers
  • biking

Riverside Park

Riverside Park features a paved trail that ventures down into the Bay and the riverbanks. Many people enjoy this trail's downtown location. It offers a great vantage point to Kapuskasing's natural beauty and is suitable for:

  • walking
  • running
  • roller-blading
  • biking

Lovers' Lane

Lovers' lane follows the Kapuskasing River in the Old Kap neighbourhood, just minutes from downtown. Perfect for:

  • walking
  • hiking
  • running
  • mountain biking
  • bird-watching
  • dog-walking
  • getting in touch with nature

Tip: when the river's water level is low, you can walk across some rocks onto a rugged island near the rapids (parallel to Devonshire just before Dominion intersection). The Lovers' Lane trailheads can be accessed via Riverside Park or the intersection at Bowman and Egerton, near Dominion Park.

Sturgeon Falls Trail

The trail to Sturgeon Falls (also known as Spruce Falls) on the Kapuskasing River is approximately 3 km in length, one-way. The trailhead is available at the junction of Hemlock and Ash streets. Enjoy this trail in all four seasons whether you prefer:

  • walking
  • running
  • mountain biking
  • snowshoeing
  • four-wheeling

Once you get to the end destination, the view of the river from the top of the falls is stunning! Find this trail
